Measuring Our Success

Resources

As stewards of a planet with finite resources, we embrace innovation and efficiency to drive meaningful environmental impact. Our in-house environmental impact and economic valuation study further reinforces our dedication to sustainable operations.

In FY 2024-25, we invested ₹227 crores in environmental capital expenditure and ₹1299 crores in operational expenditure.

Micro Pellet Plant: Advancing Resource Efficiency and Sustainability

We efficiently repurpose micro-fine dust generated from air pollution control systems such as bag filters, electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), lime and dolomite plants as well as sludge from gas cleaning units in the SMS and blast furnace, and BOF slag (<6mm), by incorporating them into agglomerates. This practice has significantly reduced stack emissions from sinter plants and increased the proportion of solid waste utilised in the base mix.

Regular and systematic removal of dust from all air pollution control equipment has enhanced their performance, contributing to better resource conservation. Additionally, the integration of various waste materials, including CDQ fines and bentonite as binders, has improved overall plant efficiency. These materials effectively replace equivalent amounts of raw inputs such as ore fines, limestone, and coal leading to enhanced operational efficiency and sustainable resource use.
